Congratulations on your Admission to Butte College. If you are out of country please follow steps 1-6. If you are a transfer student please go to step 5-7.
STEP 1: PAY SEVIS FEE ONLINE
Students needing a visa to enter the U.S. must pay the SEVIS fee before going to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate for their visa interview. The fee must be paid at least three business days before your scheduled visa interview. STEP 2: REVIEW THE PRE-ARRIVAL GUIDE
STEP 3: VISA INTERVIEW
You must make an appointment at an embassy or consulate in order to receive your student visa (F1). To find the U.S. Embassy or Consulate nearest to you go to http://usembassy.state.gov. You will need to bring your Butte College I-20 to your appointment along with other required documents (i.e. SEVIS payment receipt, financial documents, passport, etc.) Contact the embassy or consulate to find out what items you will need to bring to your interview.
STEP 4: NOTIFY BUTTE COLLEGE OF YOUR VISA STATUS
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org after your visa interview to let us know your status and confirm your attendance.
STEP 6: ORIENTATION
Once you arrive, International students have a special 4 day mandatory orientation. On the first day, you will participate in basic skills testing (reading, writing, and math). Based on your scores, you will be placed into classes suitable for your skill level. The assessment tests are not graded and will not affect your admission status. Study guides available here
STEP 7: TRANSFER FORM & CURRENT SCHOOL NOTIFICATION (Transfer students only)
To finalize your transfer you must provide a copy of your acceptance letter and the Butte College transfer form to your current international student office. Your Designated School Official (DSO) will return the transfer form to Butte College and set your SEVIS record to be transferred to:Butte-Glenn Community College District. School code SFR214F00556000.
